NSU and the Huizenga College, faculty will maintain academic
qualifications in the teaching discipline consistent with SACS,
AACSB, NASPAA and IACBE. During a period consisting of a twelve
(12) months, faculty will teach a course load as approved and
assigned by the Dean. The Director of the Center for Public Service
Innovation and Research provides academic support and department

DUTIES:
- Teaches appropriate related courses per validated academic
credentials and area of expertise at the bachelor's, master's, and
doctoral levels. Includes the selection and preparation of class
materials which are relevant and informative, using computer
technology as appropriate.
- Achieves qualified (SA) Scholarly Academic status per AACSB
Guidelines. If currently qualified, this status must be
maintained.
- Maintains academic proficiency in the teaching discipline by
demonstrating scholarly interests and giving evidence of an active
scholarly life. Standards in this area can be found in the NSU
Faculty Handbook and the Huizenga Faculty Handbook. Reasonable
progress must be demonstrated at all times and is subject to review
by the Dean or his designee.
- As requested, supervise other instructional activities whereby
the faculty member's knowledge and expertise is of benefit to the
faculty members of the course being supervised and the students
being taught in the supervised course.
- As requested and necessary in the teaching discipline, write
new courses and curricula; develop and/or enhance curricular
innovations to include instructional technologies; and supervise
doctoral closures, master's projects, directed independent studies,
experiential projects, etc.
- Provides service to the Huizenga College and University by
preparing accreditation documents and/or serving on accreditation
teams; reviewing colleagues' journal articles; providing leadership
in professional and academic associations; assisting in the
recruitment of new faculty; assisting in the recruitment and
retention of quality students; serving on Huizenga School and
University committees and task forces; engaging in interactions
with, and providing guidance to, student organizations; and
participating in Internship programs.
- Creates a positive and conducive learning environment for
students.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and guidance to students. This
may include the posting of and adherence to office hours.
- Submits annually a portfolio of accomplishments to the Dean for
the purpose of demonstrating faculty development and continuous
improvement.
- Adaptability to teach courses at the discretion of the
Dean.CENTER DIRECTOR DUTIES:
- Works with the Executive Director of Graduate Admissions to
create a branding campaign to gain national visibility for the
Public Administration Programs.
- Works with college faculty and department chair to ensure that
both academic curricula and co-curricula activities remain both
current and innovative.
- Publishes in relevant academic journals.
- Oversees the Doctor of Public Administration Program.
- Generates recognition for the Doctor of Public Administration
Program by participating in national academic and professional
conferences.
- Recruits qualified adjunct faculty.
- Participates in Alumni Association events.
- Travels locally, nationally, or internationally for the purpose
of teaching and other academic activities.
- Secures extramural funding through contracts, grants,
continuing education trainings, projects, etc.
- Develops partnerships with local governments to support
experiential learning, trainings, projects, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.Job
Requirements:Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of current entrepreneurship concepts and practices,
must have ability to organize activities and meet deadlines,
ability to work with faculty across multiple disciplines, ability
to review, understand, and apply concepts presented in training
programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
- Ability to work collegially and cooperatively with other
faculty, administration, students, and others.Required
Certifications/Licensures:Required Education: Doctoral
DegreeRequired Experience:
- One (1) - two (2) years experience in managing specialized
programs.
- Experience in business or industry in an entrepreneurial
environment.
- Experience teaching in a university setting.Preferred
Qualifications:
- Five years of teaching experience.
- Experience writing contract proposals, grants, foundation
proposals, service agreements, etc., with emphasis on working with
