We seek a Health Information Systems Analyst to provide expert advice on software development lifecycle issues related to VA patient information documentation, data integrity, and regulatory requirements specific to DSS applications.



OVERVIEW

As a Health Information Systems Analyst, this role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to DSS, Inc., with a primary focus on Medical Coding Compliance and Revenue Cycle Operations. The analyst plays a critical role in supporting cross-functional teams by providing expert input into software design and development processes. This includes close collaboration with the Product Line group, Research and Development, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure that the solutions developed are compliant, efficient, and aligned with industry standards.



The Health Information Systems Analyst will:

Provides expert advice on software development lifecycle issues related to VA patient information documentation, data integrity, and regulatory requirements specific to DSS applications.
Ensures DSS software adheres to VA and industry standards for medical procedure and diagnosis codes (ICD-10 and CPT), as well as Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) coding.
Contributes to improving VA revenue cycle quality by identifying areas for enhancement in DSS applications related to but not limited to coding, billing, revenue utilization review, claims processing, compliance, and Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA) functionalities.
Applies in-depth knowledge of Service Connection and Special Authority conditions to ensure accurate implementation within DSS applications.
Advises on VA-specific requirements for third-party billing and Medical Care Collections Fund (MCCF) processes within DSS applications.
Health record legal regulatory requirements.
Participates in Change Control Board activities to align product development with VA stakeholder needs.
Contributes to the development and refinement of Enterprise reporting capabilities to support VA reporting needs.
Travels as necessary in support of the product, the client and/or as directed by DSS Management.
Acts as a SME to DSS in areas of expertise.

Required

Possesses in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and coding guidelines regarding medical billing practices.
Strong working knowledge of EHR systems (e.g. Epic, Cerner or comparable platforms) and healthcare data management tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of medical information
Experience overseeing release of information processes and medical record workflows.
Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills and attention to detail.



Desired:

Previous experience working for the VA in the Health Administration office handling medical records



Education:

Required:

Master's degree in health informatics; a combination of education and experience can be substituted for degree.



Certification:

Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS), Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP), Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE)
Registered Health Information Management (RHIA)
Certified Coding Specialist
Master's in project management
